Adventures in Parenting-The Sleepover
We survived our first sleepover. It went pretty well until around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Suddenly, the girls both seemed to lose their coping skills and it was pretty much downhill from there. At about the time I needed to get in the shower so I could get ready to take Lily home, the pandemonium began.
Lily had some weird emotional breakdown, crying and saying something about her sister dying. We tried calling her mommy on the phone but that only seemed to make it worse. This caused my daughter a lot of anxiety and she no longer wanted to be alone with Lily. I came down to the basement where my husband was busy on the computer and told him, “One of them is having a breakdown and the other wants to be with a grown up. I just need 15 minutes to take a shower so we can take Lily home!” He simply said, “I’m on it!” and quickly went upstairs. The tears stopped immediately as he chased and tickled the girls in typical daddy fashion, I got an extra long shower and we took her home. Overall, not a bad sleepover for a 3 and 4 year old girl and I’m convinced that I have the best husband in the world!
