Adventures in Good Customer Service??

I have so many bad customer service experiences that I feel the need to share when I have a good one!

This evening, my husband, daughter and I went to Taco Bell for dinner. I preface this by saying that I have very low expectations for fast food staff and usually, I get exactly what I expect. Tonight, however, I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered and got most of our food quickly. My daughter ordered pizza from the Pizza Hut menu so hers took a little longer and they had to bring it to our table. To tide her over, they threw in a free bag of cinnamon twists, which she loved. While we were waiting for her food, I realized that I had forgotten to ask for soft tacos instead of hard shell.

When the cashier brought out her pizza, I tentatively explained that I forgot to ask for soft tacos and was wondering if I could trade them in (I had not yet unwrapped the hard tacos). He was very friendly and said no problem. He told me to keep the others and he would just bring me two new soft tacos, which he did about 4 minutes later. I enjoyed my meal (and my hubby got an extra taco). Hubby and daughter were getting refills on their drinks as we were leaving and I went up to the counter with some change in my hand to order my own set of cinnamon twists, which were $0.79 on the value menu. The same employee put them into a bag for me and told me not to worry about paying for them. I was again dumbfounded and said, “Are you sure?” He assured me that it was fine and told me to have a good night.

On the way to the car, I tried to figure out what had just happened. Since I absolutely cannot wrap my mind around a genuinely friendly fast food associate, I must assume that he misunderstood what I said and thought they got my order wrong. Either way, it was a very pleasant experience and I will be eating at that particular Taco Bell again!

**My apologies to the truly kind and friendly fast food workers who may be reading this. I know you’re out there somewhere. . .
